- Can you handle it from countries other than Japan?
-
Yes, we can assist you.
We can assist with obtaining an [import permit] for importing pets into Malaysia from any country. However, you will need to check the departure procedures specific to your country.Except for imports from some countries, your pet will need to be quarantined at a facility for 7 days upon entering Malaysia. (Refer to “Q: Is there detention when entering Malaysia?” for details.)
When exporting pets from Malaysia to other countries, the required tests and procedures vary by destination. Please contact us for specific details.
Example Procedures for Japan:
1. Rabies Antibody Test: Your pet must have stayed outside Japan for more than 180 days from the date of blood collection. The validity of the test is 2 years from the date of blood collection.
2. Import Permission: Apply for import permission at the airport quarantine in Japan where you will arrive. This application must be submitted 40 days before entering Japan.
3. Veterinarian’s Examination: Obtain an export permission certificate following a veterinarian’s medical examination before leaving Malaysia. We can arrange this for you.
- Is a Rabies Antibody Test Required?
-
A No, a rabies antibody test is not required if you have obtained import permission for Malaysia and are only taking your pet to Malaysia.
- Will there be detention upon entry into Malaysia?
-
A If you are bringing your pet from a country other than “the UK, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, or Brunei”, it will need to be quarantined for 7 days.
Additionally, pets that have not stayed in Japan for more than 6 months from the date of entry will be treated as arriving from their previous place of stay and will be subject to quarantine.
* For example, if you move from Japan to Thailand in June 2023, then from Thailand to Japan in January 2024, and then from Japan to Malaysia in May 2024, your pet will be considered to have entered from Thailand and will need to be quarantined.
* If you are in the same situation as above and enter Malaysia in July 2024, your pet will be considered to have entered from Japan and will not need to be quarantined. (Because it has been in Japan for more than six months)
