Antibody Tests Were Performed on Three Cats.
When returning to Japan, a rabies antibody test is required. When we think of rabies, we think of dogs, but cats also need it.
After receiving two doses of the rabies vaccine (the second dose is given 30 days after the first dose), the antibody test will be performed.
Since there are no testing institutions approved by the Japanese government in Malaysia, blood samples are taken at a veterinary hospital in Malaysia and then sent to an overseas testing institution for testing. (In our case, it was the UK.)
Therefore, it takes about a month for the test results to be available.
Mr. K, who requested the test this time, had been given three rescued cats in Malaysia and has not yet decided when he will return to Japan, but if he is not overseas for more than 180 days from the date of blood collection, he will be detained for the remaining days in quarantine when he returns to Japan, so he had the test done just to be sure.
Mr. K, who loves cats, said, "Since I am working overseas, I will vaccinate them every year and continue to test them every two years so that I will be ready whenever I am ordered to return to Japan."
