In Japan, it is mandatory to have pets fitted with microchips. Microchips are about the size of a grain of rice and are inserted by a veterinarian. If a beloved pet gets lost, the person who finds it can go to a veterinary clinic, where a veterinarian can use a scanner to read the microchip’s information and contact the owner.
- Obtaining a rabies vaccination certificate
A certificate in English is required, showing the vaccination and expiry date.
Vaccination Date: After the microchip is fitted, the dog must be vaccinated at least 91 days after birth and at least one month prior to the flight.
Date of Expiry: The ticket must be valid beyond the scheduled flight date.
- If you have no plans to return to Japan after entering Malaysia: Since no antibody test is required, entry is possible with only one vaccination.
- If you are returning to Japan from Malaysia within two years:
Second vaccination and rabies antibody test recommended
- Flight booking
Pets are considered excess baggage. Please check the airline’s pet transportation rules and policies before making your reservation.- I want to bring my pet with me to Malaysia
- I don’t know which airline to use
